Meet the team, and learn a little bit more about who we are and what we do! With a combined experience of too many years that we'd care to mention, Frenzy offers a unique blend of creative excellence and commercial efficacy...
Frenzy Creative started to create costumes in 2004. Hear more about its founders and team here!
Simon Roberts is a Fine Arts Graduate and worked as a Theatre Designer for many years, occasionally still working on in-house Opera with the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Simon has worked within various organisations in a creative costume environment.
Rob Ferrie is a marketing professional with years of experience Agency and Client side working in a more commercial environment including Next plc, News International and various entrepreneurial startups.
It was decided to test eBay as a platform for marketing mascot costumes and character costumes and due to the initial interest, Frenzy's first website was created.
The Frenzy offering is unique: true creativity managed in a competent commercial environment. The team comprises of creatives from all kinds of backgrounds who specialise in putting together great costumes and enjoy working in Frenzy's unique and predominantly creative environment.
2004: Frenzy's first mascot, Bruce Koala is born. Simon and Rob use eBay to generate market interest and successfully launch the first website in order to generate sales.
2005: Interest in Frenzy gains momentum.
Frenzy's strategy of supplying keenly priced mascots generates more business than aniticipated, and Frenzy employs their first member of staff.
2006: Frenzy Creative Limited is formed.
The turnover of the business dictates the need for greater formality and organisation. Consultants are enlisted to define strategy and online marketing campaigns are tested.
2007 - 2008: Growing up!
Frenzy starts to mature and attracts a range of major brands. Turnover increases substantially. Staff numbers increase.
2009 - 2012: Moving times!
Frenzy moves premises and doubles in floor space three times in three years. The company now has in excess of 15 people involved in their Manchester based operations with an increased turnover of 40% year on year for the last two years. Frenzy begin work with BBC Children In Need preparing Pudsey and Blush bears.
Fabric cutting: we have the ability to pattern cut multiple layers of fabrics to ensure that when we are creating standard parts or more than one costume of the same kind, there's a high degree of accuracy. You can see the fabric cutter to the right being operated by Yasmine. You can see how swiftly this knife cuts through over 40 layers of fabric.
CNC Router: we can precision cut our semi-rigid materials with our in-house CNC router equipment. It allows us to use digital technology to ensure that the semi-rigid elements of complex one-off costumes and multiple costumes are created with 100% accuracy - below.
Branding: we also have the ability to produce digital vinly cut branding in-house.
In 2012 we will be investing in technology that will allow us to custom print various types of fabric to ensure that we can meet most branding requirements and also machine that will allow us to provide embroidered branding solutions.
In many aspects of our business we try to be good...
If you share our desire to be kind to the planet, then think carefully about your choice of supplier: a "green" policy is not only an indicator of an ethical stance, but a fair approach to their business relationships in general - including treating staff with respect.
We have helped many charities over the years and whilst we cannot always provide free product, we certainly try and help good causes. We also work in the Education sector providing an insight into the world of design for kids that wouldn't necessarily have that opportunity.
Our Aspirations:
Avoidance of printed materials - paperless office, no brochure and invoicing is electronic
We estimate that around 90% of our manufacturing waste materials are either recycled back into production or donated to local schools or scrap projects
Wherever possible materials are sourced from local suppliers and companies with ethical manufacturing policies
We try to avoid the use of glues and solvents containing V.O.C's (Volatile Organic Compounds)
We are a small company and manage our use of energy resources carefully
We strongly support charities and subsidise Local Authority orders and donate costumes regularly.
The copious amounts of coffee and tea we drink are Fair Trade
