Frenzy Creative Mascot Costumes UK | Eye catching, engaging, fun!

Introduction – If you’ve ever worn a mascot costume, then you know they can be warm! It’s just the nature of a mascot costume. There are, of course, options and ways to lessen the heat. That’s what we’ll be talking about below…

Method of Manufacture

The first, and easiest, way to help a wearer stay cool is to have the mascot made using lightweight fabrics with lots of vents. This is something we have done frequently for costumes used to run marathons or that are used for longer periods of time. The addition/ use of specific materials can make a drastic difference to the overall heat of a costume. Quite a few of our clients have come back to us in the past to work with us on ‘summer versions’ of their mascot costume. Think lighter, cooler and more comfortable!

Fans

We offer the option of adding a cooling fan to your mascot costume. These can make a huge difference to the comfort of the wearer. The fan serves to constantly blow cool air at the wearers face, however, the fan is not so powerful as to feel uncomfortable!

The fan is a separate, self enclosed element. It is fitted into the head with a small, elastic strap and can be (with a little knowledge around using a glue gun) fitted relatively easily, remotely, by you. We would send out the fan and the elastic strap, to be fitted remotely by you or we could fit it for you in our studio.

Our fans are compact and battery operated. they work using a switch on the outside of the box (pictured below) which is easy to find and simple to use. They may look small, but these fans are 1.08W and are rated to move 13.6m³ of air per hour. We have estimated the volume of a standard head to be around 0.1m³… That means that this one little fan is actually able to move the entire volume of air, contained inside a standard head, 136 times per hour!

If you currently have a costume, supplied by us, and would like to know more about our fans or have one fitted/ sent out to you – please to send us an email here

Coolstraps

A coolstrap is a simple, lightweight, easy to use piece of kit. Put simply, it’s a freezable, gel filled sache.

The coolstrap is stored in a freezer until it the time comes for an event/appearance. The wearer would then but the coolstrap on over their chest, underneath the mascot costume. This serves to keep their core nice and cool and helps drastically with the heat.

Now, as these are frozen gel packs, and they are worn in a warm environment; they will, of course, melt eventually. Once this happens they just need to be stored in the freezer until the next time they are needed. This is why we usually recommend at least 2 coolstraps be purchased, so that they can be swapped out when one melts during longer appearances.

Again, if you’d like to get in touch about a coolstrap feel free to do so here!

Wear Time

The amount of time a wearer is in a costume is a very important factor. We always recommend a maximum of 15 minutes in a standard costume. The wearer should then have the opportunity to get out of the mascot costume completely to cool down.

A standard costume, by nature, is comparable in some ways to putting a winter coat on. The way you have to view the costume is like this; would you advise someone to wear a winter coat, inside, whilst walking around for very long periods of time? Probably not, and the same goes for a mascot costume. Unless, of course, it has been made with longer use and cooling in mind.
